Image tools that do the fiddly arithmetic for you
Three things that sound trivial and are not: hitting an exact kilobyte target, cropping a head to a millimetre range set by a government, and opening an iPhone photo on a machine that has never heard of HEIC. All of it runs inside this page.
Compress to an exact KB
Set a target — 50 KB, 240 KB, whatever the form demands — and get the best-looking file that fits under it. Ranges work too, for portals that also set a floor.
Passport & visa photo cropper
Mark the crown and chin; the crop is calculated from the official head-height range for the country you pick, with a live compliance readout and printable sheets.
HEIC to JPG
Convert the photos your iPhone insists on saving in a format half the web cannot read. Batches are fine, and the decoder runs locally.
Why these are free
Every paid competitor charges because every upload costs them bandwidth and CPU. Doing the work in your browser costs us nothing per user, so there is nothing to meter. That is not generosity, it is arithmetic — and it happens to produce the better privacy story too, because a file that is never sent cannot be retained.
The one thing we do spend real effort on is the requirements themselves. Anyone can binary-search a JPEG quality setting. Compiling accurate photo specs from official government sources, with the URL and the date we read it recorded on every page, is the part nobody bothers with — and it is the part that decides whether your application gets rejected.

What this site will not do
- Replace your background. It requires guessing where your hair ends, and the guess shows. A halo around the head reads as a digitally altered photo, which is an explicit rejection reason in most of the specs on this site.
- Promise your application will be accepted. Only the office receiving it can tell you that. We give you the published numbers, the source, and the date.
- Invent a specification. Where we could not read an official source, the row does not ship — 8 of them are listed openly on the sources page rather than filled in with a plausible number.
